Fragile

Category: Recommendation

I’ve heard this song by Ralston Bowles twice live. Each time it has surprised me with it’s beauty. Hear it at SongRamp.com.

For whatever you may think of me
Any thoughts your mind allow
I am not who I would like to be
I’m just who I am right now

So if I caused you any pain
If the words I spoke weren’t kind
I confess, repent and take the blame
Let’s just leave it all behind

For we are fragile everyone
We all long for something more
Things are said and things are done
As the pieces hit the floor—we see how fragile

Humble words are not enough I know
But sometimes words are all that come
And in the empty field of quid pro quo
The last one standing gets no crown

So if I caused you any pain
If the words I spoke weren’t kind
I confess, repent and take the blame
Let’s just leave this all behind

For we are fragile everyone
We all long for something more
Things are said and things are done
And the pieces hit the floor—and we see how fragile

Whatever I did to make it hard on you
More than it ever was for me
It was never my intention to convey indignity

So whatever you may think of me
Any thought your mind allows
I am not where I’d like to be
I’m just where I am right now

And that is Fragile
