Anniversary Weekend

Category: My Life

My wife and I had a beautiful weekend getaway in Saugatuck, Michigan. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in a quaint, artisitic, old-fashioned little town (complete with a chain ferry). We spent time talking to one another—an activity we seem to have a hard time doing very often in our every day routine.

Whenever we’re on vacation, I like myself better. I’m not as cranky, more patient, and more in love with my wife. Argh. That makes me frustrated. I wish I could release myself more often and just be less serious with myself. Most of the time during the week, I have work or freelance jobs or church or some other thing on my mind. I work so hard to make enough money so that we can get away. The harder I work, the more often I feel yukky about my behavior. The more often that happens, the more I need vacation. Then I need to make more money so I can take a bigger vacation.

I know, I’m complaining. After a weekend like the one we just had, I should just shut up and ENJOY it for a moment!

Can’t wait for two weeks from now when we go away for a whole week. Ahhhh. Just the thought makes me feel better.

Thank you, Lord, for bringing me closer to my wife this weekend. You are faithful to us.
