The Church: Epicenter of Creativity?Category:
Church
What if the church was truly the center of creative thought in our society? Ahhh, what a thought. We’re a long way from there. “I think it’s a tragedy that Tarentino, Spielberg, dreamworks, Hollywood, all these other agencies and industries are known as the epicenter of creativity.” I’m working on a project for an artist in my city who is convicted to impact the “culture shapers” in our society. By nature this man just connects with artists of all kinds. He can help those who are hurting just by being around them. I’m excited to see his vision become a reality. “Whenever you are talking about relevance, you are always acknowledging that you are behind, if you are trying to become relevant, you are just acknowledging that you got left back somewhere along the way. So, whenever a church is relevant, they are not being innovative, creative, imaginative, stylistic, cool, they are just running from the back of the pack to where the rest of the group is. So, the church has to eventually move past a conversation of relevance to Creativity, innovation, imagination, movement, and transformation.” Statements taken from Erwin McManus © Catalyst 2002 |
