NoomaCategory:
Recommendation
“We can get anything we want, from anywhere in the world, whenever we want it. Any information, products, movies, music, TV, games, day or night, with a single click. That’s just how it is. Still our lives aren’t different. Our lives aren’t any different than all generations before us. Our time is. We want spiritual direction, but it has to be real for us and available when we need it. We want a new format for getting Christian perspectives. Nooma is the new format. It’s a series of short films featuring the teachings of Rob Bell. Compact, portable, and concise, each Nooma focuses on a different issue with relevance for us. And it’s there when we need it, where we need it, as we need it.” I watched all three of the existing Nooma’s last night. Do they accomplish being “a new format for getting Christian perspectives? You’ll have to order a copy and decide for yourself. Check out their website to see previews of the films. I don’t know if they’re the be all end all of the “new format”, but they’re definitely worth viewing and sharing. By the way, anybody know what Nooma means? Actually, I have also seen the nooma's. I was very impressed with the quality, content and honesty of these "videos, films, ??"
Nooma, (which is spelled wrong so people would be able to pronunce it is my guess) is actually Greek, pneuma, which means breath or fresh air, something along those lines. Paul speaks in Acts 17 of God giving us life, breath (pneuma) and everything else. I believe these are done to be a breath of fresh air in response to the "staleness" of liturgy, tradition and stuff that just plain don't belong to followers of Jesus. He has come that we may have LIFE and to the full. Live the LIFE that He has given you!
By the way, I heartily recommend these to any audience anywhere. Flame is too cool if you are single or a teen, etc. Gotta see it!
"Pneuma" is alos the New testament greek word used for "Spirit" as in, Holy Spirit.
And yes, they were shot on 35mm film.
Check out www.theveracityproject.com for more material in this vein (short films with spiritual content)
I just recently went to promise keepers and I picked up three of the seven of the nooma dvds, and I would like to get the rest, if someone could guide me in the right direction I sure would appreciate it. I have went to nooma.com but when I go to download what I need I have no luck. I am not as familar with the internet as I need to be I guess. Thanks for your time and GOD bless.

I love the NOOMA DVD's. I teach in our church's college group and we have used them on many occasions. They hit you right where it's needed.
The nooma films are great and can be used powerfully in the right situation. When a fellow faculty member and his wife lost a child (they had been through a long and difficult fertility process)the students and faculty were heartbroken. We showed the "owange bwall" (kickball) film at chapel and God began a healing process for us.
I have seen most of the films and can recommend them for their high production standards and quality of content. This is a medium that young people can access easily.
I am doing teaching to some youth tomorrow..... I really wanted to show the video Sunday... I live in Belize, Central America.... does anyone know how I could download the video, or a site that sells it downloadable???
Michael, Sorry, but I'm sure they don't offer a downloadable version. However, I may know someone who can put in that kind of a suggestion to the "powers that be."
