Small GroupCategory:
Church
Today I start a small group at my church on the topic of postmodernism. The main issue I’ll be pointing out to the group will be the problem that most churches (including ours) operate under a “modernistic” way of doing things. I’m a little nervous, but also excited to begin discussing it in our church. I’m convinced some of the problems we experience in our church are due to this issue. A few weeks ago I made a flyer (see the PDF) and put it in every mailbox. On the flyer there is a small survey of questions that are just an attempt to see where people are at mentally on the issue. So far, I’ve received 3 replies, all from people above the age of 55. I’m just glad to have received those. I’ll keep you updated on how it all goes. we've been studying postmodernism in my small group! i've concluded that it's not as bad as some make it out to be. i don't know one person who is truly postmodern, but most everyone in my generation has been profoundly influenced by pmoism. So, we have to tweak things, not throw everything away and start from scratch.
