PersecutionLately I’ve been getting down on myself for the lack of spiritual discipline I have. I seem to only care about my relationship with God when things aren’t going well. That makes me sick. I’ve known for a little while now that Christianity tends to be that way. In history, the “Church” has flourished under persecution and becomes lackadaisical during the easy times. I think we’re at that place as a national (American) church right now and it’s filtering down to all of our individual daily lives. Not to say that good things don’t happen and the church doesn’t grow during times of “wealth,” but as a whole, things tend to get to an unhealthy, moldy state when they’re left alone. Why is it that way? Is it just human nature? Are we prone to seek out and stay in a “comfortable,” hassle free life? God, breathe life into me. Posted by pablohart on April 30, 2003 11:36 AM |
