Spiritual Food

Since I’ve been trying to introduce raw vegetables and fruit into my diet on a regular basis (see pH balance of the Body), my health has improved. And, I feel more confident about my health and how my body is able to fight off disease and sickness. The makeup of my body is largely the food I eat. If I eat whole foods that contain powerful, natural vitamins, antioxidents, and all sorts of other good stuff, my body is more equipped to do what it does really well: keep the pH balance, which in turn keeps me strong and healthy. The biggest realization, albeit simple, has been nagging at me for a few weeks now:

What I eat is what I am made of.

Additionally, I’ve also been more tuned in to how there may be a parallel to my spiritual health in all of this. I know that sounds like a cliche, but it’s true. The makeup of my spiritual being is comprised of what I intake through my eyes, ears, and what I experience.

Then it hit me. There’s stuff in the Bible about this:

Man shall not live by bread alone. Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4

And, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable�if anything is excellent or praiseworthy�think about such things.” Philippians 4:8
