My Life
I have a newly found interest in ebay. Up until now, I haven’t done much with it—bought a sold a few items, but nothing to brag about. Last saturday, my wife and I happened to stop by a couple of garage sales. We were just about to leave one, when I looked down and saw a game I had never heard of from the 70’s for $0.25. It was in good shape, so I bought it. Following a hunch, I checked ebay and found another instance of the game which was selling well. So, I put my copy up for sale immediately, and now, a week later, it’s going for over $25! So, now I’m obsessed. I’m going to sell a few things I had laying around the house that I won’t miss or need to get rid of. We went to a few more garage sales this morning and I found a few other items to sell as well. I told this story to a few friends this week, and two of them told me of people they know that are trying to make a living on ebay right now! Could this be the next great solution for the homeless? If I remember correctly, Bootsie and Donica are avid eBay sellers... I recall them making a killing on concert tix & other stuff. I too have recently been on selling binge on eBay - of comic books. And now I too look around the house & garage for another person's treasure.
sorry to be a realist but if your homeless, how are you going to get on ebay...
Well, you DO have a point. Access to the internet for the homeless is limited, but not impossible. Libraries, churches, and shelters have internet access. Some homeless have websites like the homeless guy.
What I'm not sure about is that even if they have access, can they sell stuff at a public terminal? And, the other really big stopper in this whole thing is that homeless people probably don't have a digital camera to take a picture of the item they are selling. Word pictures may not be enough to sell stuff.
