Help Build the Dream

Category: News

The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation is hoping to raise $40 million over the next eighteen months in order to fund the construction of the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial, which will be erected on a four-acre site across the tidal basin from the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. The advertising campaign is the first phase of the fundraising effort.

The memorial was designed by the ROMA Design Group and is themed around the the themes of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life: “justice, democracy, hope.” The ROMA Design Group’s design was selected in September 2000 and can be seen on the foundation’s website at www.buildthedream.org. You can also find information for donating online or by snail mail there.

“Please know this, the memorial to Martin will send a message to the world that this country is a place of inclusion, rather than exclusion. This memorial will serve as a place of peace and reflection. It will embody the spirit of the man and the people he came to lead.” — Mrs. Coretta Scott King
