Westrin & Mowry My cousin, Peter, has the great honor of playing in a music contest in Atlanta that could prove to be very promising for him. His duo has already gone through one round of “trials” and has been called back to compete on a national level. What a wonderful opportunity for them… Go Pete!

Westrin and Mowry lead guitarist Pete Mowry, front, and lead singer Brian Westrin, are contestants in Eddie’s Attic Shoot-out that takes place in metro Atlanta on Friday. Artists such as Shaun Mullins and John Mayer got their footing in the industry by using the Shoot-out’s prize money and studio time to fund their debut albums.

The Shootout Monday night open mic winners are invited back to compete for a $1000 cash prize in the Acoustic Open Mic Shootout held twice a year in June and December. The Shootout provides a rare opportunity for up-and-coming talent to showcase their music in front of a sold-out room of music industry professionals and avid acoustic music fans. In spite of the competitive premise of the event, it has actually proven to be a profound community building experience for all the songwriters involved, and great friendships as well as musical collaborations have grown out this exciting night. The winners of previous Shootouts have used this event as a springboard for their careers.
