Change is Normal

Saturday I was working on my computer at home and popped up iTunes to listen to the radio. As I was strolling through the stations looking for something to listen to that would fit my mood, I realized that internet radio is not like traditional radio in that the stations that are available come and go. Sometimes I find a 128kb version of my favorite station and sometimes there’s only a 56 or 64kb version.

It occurred to me that the fact that it was changing bothered me a little. Then, I wondered how a teen-ager—someone who sees this kind of change everwhere—would react to it. Would they be bothered by the fact that their favorite internet radio station wasn’t in a high quality 128kb stream?

What should “the church” do to accomodate (make comfortable) teens who find change to be normal?

I'm 21--Personally, I would prefer high quality streams with iTunes on a consistent basis, since I have a high speed connection. Everyone doesn't have that choice though, so in terms of the "church," the church should facilitate streams for a variety of needs. Of course, then you run into the inevitable problem of fulfilling everyone need, but I do think there is always room to do more than what we are currently doing.

By the way, in case you haven't heard, or haven't seen the commercials, Apple has teamed up with Pepsi to give away free songs through iTunes. They have printed numbers on the inside of 20 oz. Pepsi bottle caps.

If you drink Pepsi and think iTunes is something you wear on your face to tweak your sight, don't throw the cap away--send it to me. I'll use it!

A friend sent me this link that teaches you how to see if the bottle you're buying is a winning bottle. Check it out if you have "yellow-capped" Pepsi but don't want to receive the free song.
