Axis
There’s a church set up by Willow Creek in Chicago specifically aimed at 20-somethings called Axis. From their FAQ: The truth is when we were first starting out, we wanted to name this community something that sounded really cool and didn’t feel at all like church as usual – a little boring, a little exclusive, and a little ordinary. Someone came up with “Axis” and it seemed to work, so we kept it. Though there isn’t a great meaning behind the word, it has come to come to mean a place where you can be yourself, make great friends, and ask honest questions. And this from their Assoc. Director, Steve Gillen: 8 years ago I stumbled upon Axis. I wanted to find a church where I could be challenged in my faith, and where I could build strong friendships. I had to take time to determine if this was a ministry I could give my time and energy to, and if these were people I could enjoy being a church with. I’m curious is this is helping them reach their goal of reaching more 20 somethings. My guess is that it might just be segmenting them off further from the regular crowd. The longer I think about the tri-generational (previous post) church concept, the more I think it’s important to keep our churches growing and healty. However, the technology of the website is pretty sweet. Posted by pablohart on April 19, 2004 10:09 AM |

We recently started a "post-modern" church and have been pleasantly surprised to see its cross-generational diversity!
