Don’t Forget the HistoryCategory:
Postmodernism
We had a church gathering of sorts today. It was nice. It’s always nice to be with church people outside of the regular sunday-morning-service mode. While there, I had a conversation with a guy whose I.Q. must be way up there. I sound dumb just saying that, but he’s just smart. I like talking to people like that because they make me think outside the box. Sometimes, however, when I’m talking to someone like that—someone who weaves together all kinds of theories, topics, and knowledge into a stadium sized package of wisdom—I find myself following like a puppy and getting lost in the space. All that to say, he has some very cool things to say about postmodernism, modernism, and the state of the church today. He does that a lot. He challenges me every time to think outside my box on what postmodernism is. He says to me not to forget the history of the church. Funny, that keeps coming up again and again the deeper I dig into this postmodernism thing. Posted by pablohart on July 17, 2004 10:04 PM |
