Convenience is NormalCategory:
Observations
Yesterday I needed to buy lunch because I was out and so I stopped in Subway. I stood at the beginning of the line and hastily made my decision for a 6” Cold Cut combo on Paremesian bread. The cheery woman behind the counter whipped it together and slapped it in a bag with a napkin. All the while, I was thinking I had several options to pay for my sandwich. I was carrying more than my usual debit/credit cards. That day, I had a checkbook in my holster of paying options. But much to my dismay Subway didn’t take debit cards. They didn’t take checks either. CASH ONLY. “Not checks?,” I said in disgust as I waved my checkbook in the air at the girl behind the register. No was the answer, again. After I composed myself and shoved my checkbook back into the pocket of useless payment options, I spouted out the standard retort when faced with this situation, “is there an ATM around?” She pointed me in the right direction and I walked outside with my sandwich sitting on the counter waiting with anticipation for my return with the only form of payment the patrons would gladly accept. So for a while I drove up and down looking for a cash solution that would satisfy my largely growing feeling of hunger. I had $3 and some change, so I stopped in McDonalds and bought a chicken sandwich, salad, and some fries for $3.12. Posted by pablohart on September 10, 2004 10:58 AM |
