e~mergent kiwi

Category: Recommendation

I found this website, e~mergent kiwi, today through another blog (mosaiclife.org). This guy is in New Zealand (pretty sure) and is doing some promising thinking on the “emergent” church. Looks like he’s a pastor. I like pastor’s who blog. Somehow makes me feel good.

Who am I? I am steve and I live in the very healthy intersection of faith and postmodernity. I enjoy art, coffee and music, particularly ambient techno.

I create :: particularly Christian community (I planted Graceway Baptist Church) and Christian ritual (such as celebrating a Postmodern Pentecost). I am transitioning into a role as lead pastor at Opawa Baptist Church.

I think :: through my Masters (the cross in contemporary culture) and through a PhD (new ways of being church) and through my reading, art and spirituality, church ministry, postmodernity, Generation X, popular culture, gospel and culture, faith in aotearoa new zealand.

I write :: on Pentecost postmodern-style, tentatively on a postmodern missiology, on Romeo and Juliet and alt.worship, on DJing salvation, on Piglet and reading the Bible in a postmodern world, on Douglas Coupland and Christian community, on gospel and culture wildflower style, on whether 1 Peter is a mysogynist or feminist, on new ways of being Christian leaders in a new millenium and on church in a global world.

I lecture :: in practical theology and on postmodernity, leadership and contemporarary culture.

I speak :: on postmodernity and and mission, and theology.
