Postmodern ChurchesCategory:
Postmodernism
Through my job I get to do all sorts of cool things for many different types of clients. Lately, I’ve met with a couple people to discuss putting up websites for their new church. Most of these people are being called to build new churches that reach a postmodern—AKA emergent—culture. One such church is being “planted” in Walker, MI, one in Borculo, MI (out in the boon-docks), and I know of another one in Grand Rapids. It’s not hard to call Mars Hill a postmodern church. There may be others in the area. As I talk to these pastors, I get really excited. They get it. When they talk about what they want to do with their churches, I’m (pleasantly) surprised how interested I am. Are we entering a new phase as the Church? All the stuff I read and wrote about a year ago (see “Postmodern” category) is now being implemented and tested in the form of new churches, even in my hometown. How does this effect your home church and your place in it?
Samuel, do you mean MY home church, or were you being hypothetical?
"emergent--culture"
Where have I heard that term before? I can't place it.
