The Best of These

Least the TheseThe owner of the company I work for (he hates it when I call him “boss”) went to a conference at Calvin College a while back where he met the writer and director of the short film called “The Least of These.” I’ve seen the film and was very impressed by the quality of the filming and production. It’s won 27 awards as of this point and doesn’t want to stop there.

Screenshot from FilmThe basic premise of the film was taken from a story called the “Agnes Story” Tony Campolo has told a lot over the years. It’s one of those stories that just sticks with you and comes back to the forefront when situations arise where you need it most.

I was even more impressed with the interview with Tony in the backstory on the DVD. Tony is just a powerful storyteller and it comes through even in a simple interview.

Here’s part of a review:

Films made by Christians generally seem to fall into two categories. The Passion notwithstanding, you’ve got your overtly Christian-themed “cheesy & preachy” films that are more concerned with sermonizing than good story-telling and good filmmaking. And then there are those films that don’t deal directly with Christian themes but still end up being good entertainment—not altogether a bad thing
