Summer Is on Its Way

The tree
that I park my car next to
is blooming. The stems
on the ground
are starting to stretch their necks
and reveal their smiles

Summer is on its way

We start our day early
before the sun has had a chance to warm the car
before body is ready to work
and mind ready to think

cloudy vision
virus in my eye
sleep deprivation
stiff fingers

soggy steel
weighs down the sky
as my car pulls up
next to the tree in the parking lot
that is blooming
