Money
Money, money everywhere, not a cent to spend. That’s my hard realization lately. My wife and I have worked really hard to make a budget and live by it. Not that it’s easy, but it has definitely helped us get our finances under control. I’m in a period of life where I’ve been thinking more and more about money and forcing myself to work through what it means to have money and how to live with it. It’s kind of a taboo that I’m working through. The more I read, the more I learn, but it’s almost been a requirement to start from scratch and relearn and build a solid foundation before being able to move on. The hardest part about all of this for me is that while we make enough money through my job and could probably say we have more money than most other people in the world (simply because we live in the U.S.), we still struggle with letting our bank account bottom out every now and then, always having the itch to buy the next best thing, not being good stewards of our money, not giving enough, buying compulsively, and so on. Money, get away. I’ve found a lot of help from Dave Ramsey, Robert Kiyosaki, and Robert Allen. There’s a lot to learn, so the more people I listen to, the better in my mind. “…Where debt is dumb, cash is king and the paid off home mortgage has taken the place of the BMW as the status symbol of choice.” -Dave RamseyPosted by pablohart on July 05, 2005 08:53 AM |

Talk about put your money where your mouth is!!!! LOL Thanks for the insight my spouse and I have been strugling a little (ha) in this area lately. Love the Pink Floyd insert!!
Dude, I sooooo know what you mean. Of course for me I'm looking at a forced lesson in money because I'm looking to going to go from a computer professional's salary to that of a pastor... :)
I do know what you mean about money though. I don't know where they heck we spend it on sometimes.
Jamison, being on a pastor's salary isn't as bad it seems. People are generous in creative ways, which supplements your salary. Basically, nobody's "poor" who answers God's call.
Hey Nathan. It's not so much the level of a pastor's salary but the difference from what I make now. I'm not quite in John's league, but I'm not too far behind ;-)
