The Church and MissionCategory:
Music, Poetry, & Scripture
Last week, our pastor quoted this in his sermon and it just hit me in the face with all of it’s truthfulness.
With these words, a theologian captured the essential character of the church: where there is no mission, there is no church. A church without mission can exist for a time - it might have all the panoply of a church, all the stained glass and vestments, all the clubs and societies, that many associate with the church - but all that time it exists without mission, it is slowly dying. It has something missing from its Kingdom DNA. A church without mission is just a decaying shell. Above paragraph written by St. Mary’s Church Posted by pablohart on July 15, 2005 03:21 PM |
