Supernatural

Category: News

The vast majority of America’s teenagers believe in the existence of a world beyond the senses. However, such openness also translates into significant levels of experimentation with witchcraft and psychic activities. Christians always have a tough line to walk when it comes to addressing nonchristian "supernatural" things. Post-enlightenment secular thinkers have it easy and simply say that Ouija board, witchcraft, psychics, ESP, Astrology, ghost, tarot cards, ect are complete bunk and hookum. They can be explained in a naturalistic way. See: http://skepdic.com/

Christians and especially it would seem american evangelicals can not or do not say they are bunk. So they in many ways actually support the idea, that supernatural/paranormal actually work but are evil and to be avoided.

i have had many experiences which have gone something like this:

person: what do you do?
me: i'm a minister.
person: oh! wow, that's great. ya know, just yesterday i was sitting at my desk thinking about my dead uncle when suddenly a wind came through the window and blew my piece of paper off the desk. and i just knew it was him.
me: okay.
person: yeah, i believe in that stuff, ya know? it's great you're a minister.

...sigh...
